Moose - is a very happy 18 week old male. He is crate trained for the most part. He will go to the back door to be let out, but he is still a puppy, so if you don’t notice him standing there, he will walk away and piddle on the floor. But that has only happened twice. He is a little timid about new things, but will check things out after a little while. He loves the other dogs in the foster home (currently living with 1 male Dane mix and 2 female dogs) and we feel he needs a buddy, so that will be a requirement. He is a total cuddle bug! He is only 35 lbs so he will have to grow into his name, but I have no doubt he will be a big, strong boy.
The foster took him to Petsmart and it was a little scary for him at first, but the more he goes, the better he will be. he is still teething and nips a little, so he should only be placed with kids 8+, or a family with puppy experience.
He has no cat experience but we feel he would either chase or try and play with them. Moose will be placed on a neuter contract, which will require him to be altered between 6-9 months of age. A $150 neuter deposit will be collected at the time of adoption and will be returned when the rescue received proof of neuter.
Update 2/23/10 - Obedience training within the first 6 months from adoption with proof of completion is required. He will also have to go to a home with a 6ft fence or higher.
Update 2/27/10 - Moose continues to work on potty training but is still having accidents in his crate, even though the fosters have a mid-day walker. He is also extremely shy outside of the house and needs a home that can work on his confidence. He needs to go to a home where it is more calm and kids aren’t in his face. He had done well with kids that are calm and let Moose come to them first.
