Marco - 4 year old black Dane with freckled white on his chest and natural ears. He came to his foster home very underweight but has a good appetite and has been gaining weight very well. He has no current health problems though he had a tumor removed from his jaw when he was a year old. Part of his jaw was removed as well and now his tongue falls out of his mouth giving him a very comical look. Marco has really blossomed from a hungry, uncertain, shy dog to a very happy, playful boy. He gets along great with the other two Danes in the home, a five year old female and a two year old male. He goes to the dog park with them several times a week and plays great with the other dogs of all sizes. He is a very loving and gentle dog who loves being with his foster mom and finds great comfort from the other dogs when she’s at work. He is a little rough with the cats in the house and although he is starting to understand he cannot chase them he would probably do best in a home without cats but another dog. Marco came to MAGDRL in May 2008.
Update 7/24/08 – Marco bloated at the beginning of June but came through the surgery wonderfully. He has fully recovered and has gained back the 5 lbs lost and quite a bit more (Hurray!!!!). He was tacked during the surgery. He bounced back so quickly you would never know anything happened to him at all! He continues to get strong, shiny and healthy. He is at a good weight now and looks nothing like the little “bag of bones” from May. He is well trained, listens great, walks well on his gentle walker and thoroughly enjoys playing (hard to tell he is going on 5!!) and going places in the car. He rings the bells on the back door when he wants out. Loves his foster brother, sister, and mom. His favorite thing is to lay his head in your lap and just be rubbed on. He has truly blossomed into a loving, gentle, fun Dane who wants nothing more than to be loved. He is an absolute delight!
